March 1-5, 2017
(Includes J Paul Getty Center, Disneyland, Korean Friendship Bell, and Wayfarers Chapel)
I joined Marc on his work trip in L.A. to meet with an artist and view the unveiling of his newest art installation. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE for the first couple of nights.
The LA LIVE entertainment complex hosts a 54-story hotel and condominium tower, Microsoft Theatre and Microsoft Square, ESPN studios and ESPN Zone restaurant/arcade complex, the Grammy Museum, Club Nokia, Lucky Strike bowling alley, Club Nokia, The Conga Room, various restaurants, and a 14-screen movie theater all on a 27-acre site.
We enjoyed the scene at the unveiling, though we didn’t know anyone except the artist who was the celebrity of the event.
Convergence is a 100 x 18 ft led display. “This ever-changing cinematic narrative of Los Angeles harnesses demographic, astronomical, oceanographic, tectonic, traffic and climate data streams, social media posts and news feeds, and frames them within fragments of cultural and historical content of Downtown Los Angeles.”
